This was unexpected. The plan had been to capture a simple full moon rising behind Mt. Helix, a famous landmark in San Diego's East County. That would have been nice enough. As moonrise began however, glowing golden light shined through a wispy cloud that was passing behind the mountain. Slowly the moon inched into view, and climbed behind silhouetted trees, to cross paths with the radiant cloud. The resulting illusion was striking. Above it all the stately Mt. Helix Cross punctuated this heavenly scene. - Dan McGeorge
