Artist's Description

City Hall
Jacksonville, Oregon

Jacksonville was the original seat of Jackson County, Oregon from 1852 to 1927. The courthouse was built in 1883, and was the site of some pretty sensational trials. No longer the County Courthouse after '27 the building struggled for recognition, stumbling through a checkered series of uses. Eventually its ownership was obtained by the City, and in 2016 it became the new location of the Jacksonville City Hall. What a magnificent transformation! I've wanted to portray it in a beautiful photograph for some time, and courtesy of a recent storm provided by my good friend Mother Nature the light and conditions I was hoping for finally materialized. Turbulent clouds painted with golden sunlight splashed against a deep blue sky. The setting sun itself reflected from the majestic second story windows as Old Glory waved proudly above. - Dan McGeorge
